| It is important to be able to control the
direction the torch travels when cutting shapes due to the nature of the plasma-arc
process. Imagine yourself being a little man sitting on the tip of the torch, always facing in the direction the torch is traveling. The cut edge on your right will always be better than the edge to your left. This means that you should always travel in a clockwise direction when cutting exterior shapes, and counter-clockwise when cutting interior shapes. In the above example, we will be keeping the part with the circular hole, and discarding the round piece. Therefore, we want to travel in a counter-clockwise direction. In CorelDraw, this can be achieved by making mirror images. Select ARRANGE/ TRANSFORM/SCALE AND MIRROR. Making a mirror image of a shape will cause the torch path to travel the opposite direction. Generally, the default direction is clockwise, but this is not always the case. You can determine the direction of travel by executing the shape off-line in the Torchmate software. |
