We can quote the table that best fits your needs.

We are pleased to announce our all-new finished Torchmate 2 cnc cutting system.  Like our finished Torchmate 3, this machine is constructed of heavy anodized extruded aluminum.  It features more powerful motors than our Torchmate 2 kits, and comes with precision hardened and ground X axis rails.  Full details are provided below.

Effective with our updated price schedule, we are introducing a finished, bolt-together version of our Torchmate 2.

It is similar in construction to the Torchmate 3, and will have the same size motors (264 oz. in.).  Unlike the Torchmate 3, the X (long) axis is powered on both sides via a driveshaft.

Also commencing with our new price schedule, our finished Torchmate 2 and 3 machines feature hardened and ground rails.  Cold roll steel rails were used previously.

optional arc voltage torch height control.

The Y (short) axis uses a precision industrial linear motion slide and cassette.  Eight 1" diameter needle bearing rollers ride on four hardened and ground rails at right angles to each other.

Rack and pinion gear train, coupled with a timing belt and pulley reduction provides quiet operation without the backlash and vulnerability to grit of ball- screw type drives.

Right:  Industrial linear motion assembly used on the Y axis is secured to the cross beam with socket head cap screws spaced every 3 inches.  Replaceable felt wipers are mounted on both ends of the roller cassette.
Right:  Looking more like ways on a lathe than parts of a cutting machine, these hardened and ground rails were produced for us by the country's most prestigious manufacturer of precision ways and rails.

They start out as 4140 pre-hardened (28-32 Rockwell C scale) alloy steel, oversize by 1/8" in both dimensions.  They are then blanchard ground to within .002" or less of absolute straightness in both dimensions.  Grinding the rails after they are hardened totally eliminates any distortion caused by the hardening process.

The hardness level provides resistance to dings, but is not so extreme as to permit fracturing or chipping.  For comparison, 304 stainless steel has a hardness of approximately 24.5 RC.

Beginning with our revised price schedule, these rails are standard on our finished Torchmate machines, and available for our Torchmate 2 & 3 kits at $1,550 a pair for 4' x 8' capacity and $1,750 for 5' x 10'.
